Living victoriously over stress and worry is possible through the power of Jesus Christ. His sacrifice on Calvary lifts and covers every sin and burden.

Those whom have accepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior have the unique opportunity and ability to live free from all worry, stress, and fear through the power of His love and blood covenant. The Holy Bible contains hundreds of scriptures that transform and regenerate the lives of men and women, and teaches everyone how to live victoriously over negative circumstances.

How Stress Impedes Physical and Emotional Healing

Recently, a conversation was captured on television between a plastic surgeon and his potential patient. The surgeon listened intently as the woman nervously smiled while expressing several mishaps involving her ex-husband.

Once finished, the doctor began examining the area of her body for which she desired cosmetic surgery. He concluded that she was in great physical shape with the exception of the area in question and was fine with proceeding forward with the operation.

With a pensive look on his face, he next began to express his major concern. He said, “the one and only apprehension I have about performing your surgery is related to all you just told me. With your recent misfortunes, I’m very concerned that stress will undo my work and not allow you to heal as you should. If you’re feeling stressed, your stress cells will kick into overdrive and considerably slow down the healing process. They will totally undo my work.”

The woman began assuring the surgeon that she was managing the situation to the best of her ability and also possessed a large network of loving friends and family that were helping her through the process. Satisfied with her response, they proceeded to set her appointment for surgery.

Initially, the doctor’s comments were confirming since most adults are aware that stress exasperates any mental, physiological, or emotional ailment. But, upon further thought, his response became more insightful. An analogy surfaced which mirrored the doctor’s concerns with those of the Lord regarding His children.

Bible Scriptures regarding God's Thoughts about Worry

According to biblical scriptures, it is the Father’s will that Christians not live in worry, fear, and defeat, but to trust Him and approach each day full of faith, assurance, and hope. God does not desire for His children to undo His miraculous work of redemption and blessed promises by living in unbelief and stress due to the negative pressures of life. He longs to heal, uplift, and prosper each soul; not tear it down.

In the Bible, God has instructed each of His followers to cast all burdens, worries, and cares upon Him (Psalms 55:22, I Peter 5:7) and to walk in unwavering (James 1:6) faith; knowing that all things are working together for the good of them that love Him and are called according to His Purpose (Romans 8:28).

He commands Christians to solely trust Him because He is in total control of all things and circumstances. In times of weariness, loss, economic hardship, loneliness, and the like God continues to beckon each person to come to Him for rest (Matthew 11:28-30), and peace for each mind and heart (John 14:27).

How to Live Victoriously through the Love and Power of God

Releasing all anxiety and worry to the Father entails meditating only on those things that regenerate and renew (Philippians 4:8) versus anything that casts down and destroys. Meditating on what God has promised and given authority to is a spiritual weapon designed to encourage, refresh, and strengthen weakened spirits. The Lord clearly speaks life and love into broken, worrisome hearts through the following examples of scripture:

  • "And, why worry about your clothes? Look at the field lilies! They don’t worry about theirs. And if God cares so wonderfully for flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow, won’t He more surely care for you, O men of little faith?" (Matthew 6:28, 30; The Living Bible)

  • "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall you call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart." (Jeremiah 29:11-13)
Why God's Love is Intimate, Healing, and Powerful

Like any loving father, God desires to be intertwined in every aspect of His child’s life; what concerns the child, concerns Him. He so intimately loves each individual that every hair upon each head has been personally numbered by Him (Matthew 10:30). And, in His infinite compassion, He bottles each teardrop (Psalms 56:8) fallen in times of distress, uncertainty, and sorrow.

Today, begin living a victorious and powerful life over stress and worry by allowing God to invade and integrate the most personal areas of your life! Trust Him, for He longs to heal and love each of us back to health emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Allow your Heavenly Father to release all fear (f.alse e.vidence a.ppearing r.real), heal every injured place, and carry your every burden; for He is all of the peace, rest, and joy that your heart and spirit long for.
